  9. The remote manipulator system (RMS), also known as the Canadarm, is a robotic arm that moves objects in and out of the cargo bay in space. The payload specialist controls it from the aft flight deck with a device just like a joystick. The RMS has a shoulder joint, an elbow joint, and a wrist joint, just like a human arm. It is 15 metres (49 feet) long and has two television cameras mounted on it that allow the user to see what he or she is doing when handling payloads.

  11. The RMS can handle payloads of up to 30 tonnes--that's about the size of a Greyhound bus.
